The Bare Bird - Australian Free Range Chicken

100% Antibiotic Free Chicken

100% antibiotic free means that The Bare Birds never receive any kinds of antibiotics at any stage in their lifecycle.

The World Health Organization is concerned with the rising levels of antibiotic resistance.  The less we are exposed to antibiotics, the more effective they will be when we need them.

Antibiotic resistance is one of the biggest threats to global health, food security and development today

THE ANTIBIOTIC FREE STORY

Several types of antibiotics are regularly used in poultry. The Bare Bird does not use any antibiotics ever!

  • Antibiotic Growth Promotants are used to improve gut health which aids growth in chickens

  • Coccidiostats or Ionaphores are used prophylactically to prevent diseases. This means healthy birds are commonly medicated to prevent the spread of infection in flocks.

  • When a flock of birds becomes ill, antibiotics can be administered via drinking water.

HOW CAN WE PRODUCE CHICKEN WITHOUT ANTIBIOTICS?

Healthy birds in healthy environments simply don’t need antibiotics.

We keep our birds healthy by feeding them a vegetarian diet of grains, seeds, legumes, and oils, with prebiotics, probiotics, and essential oils for a nutritionally balanced diet. We have a strong focus on biosecurity and cleanliness on our farms and our dedicated team take great care of our chickens!

The world urgently needs to change the way it uses and prescribes antibiotics.
